I reckon solar has huge potential for this too, here in Australia they literally put a tax on solar that gets put into the grid during the day because so many people have invested in solar while the government is trying to keep us reliant on coal.

The coal fired plants each generator takes 18 hours to switch on or off, so they can not switch them off fast enough during the day and it kept overloading the grid.

Now, almost all new home solar installations are just dumping their excess power into the ground when their batteries are full instead putting it into the grid.
