I started making my own soap about 10 years ago after killing a very large ram and not wanting to waste all the fat on him (enough to power a small city!). Generally I use a blend of sheep tallow and cheap cooking oil. It is so much better than store soap because you get the glycerin emollunt with a clean squeaky finish.
