You know, I get it! It does sound like a weird connection at first, doesn't it? It's an idea that's been stuck in my head since I was in school, years ago. But the more I think about it, the more I find that cats and Freemasons share some surprisingly funny similarities.
Think about the secrecy: both are absolute masters of mystery. A cat will disappear for hours and come back as if nothing happened, with that utterly unreadable attitude. Freemasons, in a similar way, have always had that aura of secrecy around their activities. It's kind of their trademark!
Then there's the whole thing about codes and rituals. We humans don't always get it, but cats have their own full language: tail straight up, specific meows, hisses... it's a proper code! It's not that different from the symbols, secret handshakes, and rituals Freemasons use to recognize each other and communicate.
And let's not forget the hierarchy. In any group of cats, there's always a "top cat" who lays down the law, just like in a Masonic lodge there are Masters, Apprentices, and a very precise structure to follow.
But the funniest part to me is the independence. A cat decides when it wants cuddles and when it prefers to be left alone. It's free by nature. And in a way, a Freemason does something similar: they're on their own path seeking knowledge, choosing their associations carefully. Two completely different worlds, but with strangely similar social dynamics when you think about it!
So yeah, in the end, the cat is like a living metaphor for all those concepts of mystery and hidden knowledge. I don't know, I've always pictured them as little mysterious spies, watching everything without being noticed!
What do you think? It's a curious parallel, isn't it?
