I wouldn't recommend laser engraving.

1/ you are loading your secret on a device that can be connected online and you might leave a fingerprint somewhere.

2/ Unless you have a proper CO2 laser over 50watts, you wont be able to edge steel or other durable materials.

Putting your secret in paper, acrylic or even aluminum is not a good long term solution IMO.
