Yeah, I always try to leave some space or tell the person waiting on me to not panic, if I'm late.

I love german train transportation too. Also of the neighbouring countries. Very convenient (flat land also helps)

Bavaria has mountains i think. Is there train transportation also good there? Also i have heard that German mountains are made from soft stone and it is easy to make tunnels. Is it true?
