CO2 is historically a lagging indicator. Although correlated with rising temperatures it has traditionally taken place AFTER the temperatures had already increased. There is no evidence that CO2 *causes* temperature increase outside of theoretical modelling (which is always shown to be laughably wrong when extrapolated to model the past)
