I'm on a Chinese cheap #Andoid phone and I gotta say #NetGuard is quite neat. According to it, I have 350 apps on my phone (including system apps). I blocked everything now and only allowed 18 apps to go online.

18/350 is really all I need most days. Isn't it crazy?

I also discovered weird things. For example I got a notification to update my themes at least once a day. I couldn't care less about that so it was just noise. These notifications seem to have been caused by my weather widget .. when I unblocked it, they returned. Also I wondered why it feels so warm outside even though my phone said it's -4 C..

Until I realised the weather thing couldn't update because it had no network 🤣

Yeah anyway if you are on #Android get Netguard and block everything

My problem with apps like this is that they force you into using a private DNS/VPN connection. This slows down your network speed and gives the (unknown) DNS provider access to your traffic information. Its kinda the equivalent of using a free VPN, something you should always avoid.

I have installed Shizuku and control apps network access through an app called "App Ops" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rikka.appops

There is also "System UI Tuner"

https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/com.zacharee1.systemuituner

And "Canta" which allows you to delete bloatware

When I first switched on all the blocks on my vpn, when I watched something on youtube it didn’t register in the history. I can start a video on my phone and finish it on tv I like that feature and use it a lot, but the videos were not registering in history 😆😭

I need new yt profile and to not go full block block

My YouTube app doesn't work at all anymore even though I unblocked it. Browser it is 🤣

Lmaaaaaao 🪦
