For the first year I’ve exclusively hauled all slash and logs back to my homestead from clients projects to either compost, mulch or make biochar with. Also experimenting with a giant hugel mound to shelter bee hives from kids.

In the past I would take it for free chipping since it was so much quicker to unload, so I totally understand people doing this
