BREAKING: City-funded grocery store trial in Kansas City has already failed. Shelves are completely empty, food rotten, theft.

Misaligned incentives.

Perhaps they didn’t invest enough stolen money into this project. Yeah, that’s probably it…

Isn’t this coming to NYC? 🤣

People get what they vote for.

Probably should vote harder next time.

Never vote commie

Why waste all that money on flights when you can have the Venezuelan experience right in your city, uh?

Shocking

These people will never learn. This will just keep repeating.

The Kansas City, Missouri, "Food Equity" grocery store, also known as the "Kauffman Memorial Garden" or more commonly referred to as the municipal grocery store, is indeed no longer in operation.

If this is the SunFresh, it’s closed. How is this breaking?

I’m pretty sure it’s still open

This was obviously capitalism's fault and requires more statism to fix

The “food desert” with an ALDI less than a mile down the road 🙄

Yeah I feel like the food desert idea is a bit too strict. I've never lived in a non-food desert, but in a rural area everyone has cars so a 12 mile ride isn't exactly horrifying idea. I'm in a more urban environment atm, but literally less than an hour ago I did shopping at a grocery store two miles away via e bike, and I regularly peddle bike or walk there.

Imagine being retarded enough to think that the existence of a grocery store magically turns an area into farmland

Imagine being so retarded you think everything must be binary - i.e. desert and farmland

Farmland as a general term, I didn't mention broad acre crops or whatever you think I'm talking about.

As in places where people intentionally grow food.

That's why the term is "food desert"

Most "food deserts" actually grow a lot of lawns.

The difference is you're burning petrol to mow the lawn, while I have cows to eat my lawn, and I have about 500 different species of grass and legumes while you just have a monoculture in your suburbia.

If your area does not produce food it's a food desert.

I’m sure the communists in NYC will do it better this time.

Okay I'm just gonna say it:

Why is everyone black?

KC neighborhoods are either black or white. It's a legacy thing from back in the blockbusting days of their real estate boom.

That's fascinating to me.

Look up redlining.

Used to live in KC, very true. Parts of city are nice and safe right next to very bad spots. The nice spots are majority not black by an overwhelming percentage.

The general rule is avoid going as far East as Troost, and if you can't, do NOT go near Prospect.

Just go to Slaps or Joes and head back home and your safe. Maybe go to Messenger coffee if you're feeling adventurous.

Russian supermarkets USED to look like this. City-funded?! In other words “Goin shopen, sum mofo pain fo ma sheet!”

Discussed on #BowlAfterBowl last night. This is the closest grocery store to us, but we've never shopped there. More wasted tax dollars! #KansasCity

Imagine that 🤷

WTF?

Who would have thunk.

Definitely would work if people in Kansas City just gave more money to the government. 😂

The meme I was looking for 😄

Americans...

How sad.

Without government, who would be the worst at absolutely everything?
