Martial combat at a pre defined location seems way less barbaric than this 5th Gen War we're in where everyone is a combatant and targeted.

My sci-fi dream is eventually we move to an olympic/gladiator style competition to solve conflict. You have an issue? Send your 5 best warriors for hand to hand combat

I’d imagine the solution for “world peace” would require some advancements that make all war untenable. Like if we lose the Gladiator Olympics, why not just resort back to invading.
