Maybe. It’s hard to tell. I’m pretty happy with what I’m using - enough that I coughed up money to support it. But if it worked, and I had enough friends to converse with - I tend to go where people are when I need to.

Telegram. I use it for nearly everything now.

Some FUD, and people don’t like using a phone number to sign up.
SimpleX theoretically leaks less metadata. But there are trade offs that make it difficult for me. You can only use SimpleX on one device for instance. I use telegram from my iPhone, iPad, and PC. We don’t use discord (my friends/family) anymore because we all have telegram.
The chat features also convinced my non-tech family to sign up. So I quit using SMS and Discord both. Big security/privacy upgrade for me.
