On one hand I agree that it would be nice to have a smoother nostr experience for non-technical users.
Otoh, just like it was with Mastodon in the early days, it was useful kryptonite to keep unpleasant people away from the place until the dam broke.
A mixed bag, as they say.
There is a slight difference maybe? I'm not sure cos I never used Mastodon. The clunkiness/jankiness of a client might put people off and usefully signals to some extent the WIP nature of the platform. But the single topic complaint is a far more pervasive problem imo. Tech, you assume is being worked on. But a community dominated by a single topic has a less clear solution to a newcomer.
