Jack, if you ever want to reach out…
It’s pretty good 👍
Why is SimpleX better?
You are kidding!
Telegram claims to be open source, but no one can find the source code.
Also, I can’t find anything on there. The way it prioritizes messages is annoying

What’s better, signal or telegram?
🤔
Beep beep
Better in terms of what? Cause Telegram isn’t private whatsoever but privacy is the main focus of Signal.

Jeeves was the homie back in the day.
I wish I knew how to code to actually build this 😂

🤣
Telegram.
Can you please expand on why you believe that Telegram is better than Signal?
Sorry, that's not a thoughtful opinion. I just use Telegram because it is very practical and easy and I relinquish all my data and private life to the Telegram employees for now. This is not a good decision, but at least Telegram hasn't done anything very shady so far and has given no evidence it is going to do either.
People keep having to learn over and over again. That there's no such thing as any public security that's not fully open source.
Secure elements are not secure. They're closed source open back doors lol..🤔😁
Telegram is a Russian spyware.
Telegram doesn’t enable encryption by default, and it might be tricky for new non-tech savvy to understand how to enable and use it (because most of the time they will just send it to the non-encrypted chat).
Signal is open source, not like Telegram that is closed source AND proprietary.
Telegram for public group chat, Signal for the friends & family. You can just register it on a number that is not linked to your ID, but friends won’t be able to discover you directly, and you will need to message them and that will give them your number that is supposed to be « anonymous », and I don’t really trust non savvy tech with keeping my number safe.
keep up the one-liners, they’re great 💯
got u bruh

Being testing SimpkeX chat and, IMO is not ready for prime time, needs work to compete with the best out there in privacy, like Session app, Threema and Briar... Signal is better than WhatsApp but requires your phone number so most tech savvy people will pass:
Reasons why, IMO, SimoleX Chat is not ready:
1. Not native TOR built in, you need to configure it and keep TOR proxy open in the background...
2. Battery consumption is too high, its a battery killer
3. The UI needs work to be simple and easy to use and understand for not tech savvy users, currently is too complex for non geeks
Tested the app extensively, good sound quality and reliable, but the cons are a wall for adoption
Tested on non savvy friends for installation and performing a chat and a call. It didnt pass, all of them required assistance to configure and send a link for connection
For unparalleled privacy at the moment, Session App, followed by Threema (just don't add your phone number, is optional...)
Hope this helps
Why not just rely on #nostr for single & group chat?

i've been trying to transition my family and friends from Signal to SimpleX. i've gotten a few of them thus far.
I'm only using SimpleX with my brother, and since we're both a little more tech savvy than most of our family members, plus willing to make things work, it's been great for us. But I mostly struggle to get people to switch to Signal...
I am not very familiar with SimpleX. What're its advanteges over Signal?
decentralization and it doesn't need a phone number.
Although I agree with you technically, isn't that going too far too fast? We know that majorities' resistance to change is high, so we need a hybrid solution in the short term. Is the associated risk/reward ratio worth spending so much energy to get people on SimpleX? I'm not convinced. The world would already be so much better if everyone used signal...
i've moved from friend and family from SMS to Google Talk, to Google Hangouts, to Google Allo, and lastly to Signal. it's just the next iteration to find something better and it's pretty painless.
I've done the same, but I realize that these people only use Signal to communicate with me, because the rest of their entourage stays on Whatsapp. That's why it doesn't really bother them to change once again, it's just one roving conversation to be moved again. I think we'd have more to gain by choosing one good solution and concentrating on that rather than changing as soon as a slightly better alternative is available. There will always be geeks scouting ahead but that is so that the majority can progress safely and smoothly.
