How it it shitty? You assumed everyone carries it? Comments here show it was a good question.

Bottom line ..

if you are truck driver or a mail man ..probably smart phones (with smaller form factor) are good for you...

If you are are a creative....... eg code , write , read , plan , notes etc .. and you are anyway in front of a terminal most of your day ... smart phone is a wastage of money, time and productivity..

Always have a good GPS in your car .. cuz networks and flimsy iPhone are anyway not dependable for navigation ..

Always have a good camera ( SLR or a goPro) when you go out in nature.. don't waste your time and creativity with shitty phone cams ..

I agree. To change topic, when you say SLR do you also mean DSLR or specifically SLR? I do love my film. Been years since playing around with it though.

I had a GoPro, i think the second edition. I bet they are a lot better now quality wise. I shoud get one.

Yes .. DSLR ..

The reason I suggest a manual cam is the fun of picture taking is in the controls .. if all you do is point and shoot with your iPony , you might as well use Facebook glasses :-) .... If all you care is a memory stored somewhere .. you are NOT into photography ..

Disclaimer - I stopped photography a while back cuz running two hobbies - "writing" and perfecting pics - is just too much. I had to choose one thing - I chose "writing" ..for giving up #vim was too much to ask of myself :-)
