I probably say 40-50% of what I wanna say on here cause I'm scared of the permanency. Nothing controversial I just wanna talk about my feelings 😅 But by nature those should be fleeting... What I personally want in social media that's hard to find (unless I hide my identity I suppose, but I don't want that either) is the ability to talk more freely and openly about my personal experiences, but as someone with a lot of self-criticism, the willingness to be open certainly feels hindered by #nodelete

Just be yourself and don’t worry about others opinions and everything will be ok 🫂👊🏼

It's mostly me reading back on my own past thoughts that's the issue, not as much what other people think! I don't want every passing emotion to be forever stamped in history and able to be retrieved/recalled in full detail . It's unnatural

That’s a good point, and you have the freedom of choice to do it, or not 🫂

True, and I suppose I usually choose not! So I guess I'll stick to journalling lol

Hi Emily! I read this thread and it sounds to me like you’ve got to the right conclusion.

Nothing wrong with sharing on social platforms but it is certainly not for everyone for the reason you described.

I often read something and I want to express my pov right then right there as I genuinely feel it. As soon as I read my comments, I press delete. Just in case in feel differently or change my mind in the future. I usually have a positive outlook and I assume the best on people but I also know it is a big world out there and opinions and perceptions are varied, some even extreme. The way our feelings and events are interpreted is no different.

For that and more, I often think; If I want the world to really know how I think, feel or what I’ve been through, I’ll write my memoirs. At least that way a more thorough process goes into it!

For now, I keep it to my journal and the occasional slightly subtle posts. I respect and admire those who share more candidly.

Like you, I also avoid having an anonymous profile. That way I check myself at the tip of my posts!

May you continue to bring nice and sweet things to this world in your authentic way.

Peace be with you always! 🤙🏽

Cheers!!! 🙂

Maybe if we could have labels to clean up our profile that would be nice. Like if we tag posts..

Probably already exists in some clients but worthless if other people see notes differently. And I probably wouldn't choose a complicated UI with infinite options.

Likewise. But yeah even if that we're a solution is some clients it can't change across the board so it is what it is :/

You shouldn’t hold yourself, people don’t usually judge on Nostr (look at global feed 🤦‍♂️)

Besides, most probably nobody that you know is on Nostr 🤣

Sure, I can ignore every instinct in my body that says this is not a natural space to talk candidly about everything... but at the end of the day the permanence makes it exactly that... not natural space to talk candidly about everything. I've been on here since last January and it's consistently my main issue with it.

And true there are only a few people I know on here ... so far ;) if it remains this super niche community forever then I guess it's less of an issue. But I'd rather see it grow! And the level of sharing I'm gonna do is gonna depend on who's here.

I shared some stupid shit on Facebook as a teenager and the only people I know that use that now are my parents and extended family members - not the audience that was originally intended for lol. That's another part of why I hold so much back here, is it going to be a small community of bitcoiners and/or people I don't know forever? Or will this eventually evolve into my one social media account? (Ideally the latter because I like the principle of Nostr... minus this one point I obviously hate)

Yup, know the feeling. That’s what so lovely about 24-hour stories. Still, #nostrcommunity makes me most comfortable
