Dogs are evolutionarily connected with humans. The process can’t be undone.

30,000 plus years together does that. I grew up on a ranch with working cattle dogs, and have had a dog most of my life. I'm of the opposite opinion, I feel like humans who don't connect with dogs are broken somehow, they are missing part of themselves.

Dogs are not a lifestyle accessory. Our commodity culture has caused so much damage to the human-animal bond.

There’s a great book on this I read by a dog behavior psychologist called Our Dogs, Ourselves.

It also has a kids edition and I got a copy for my family. https://a.co/d/2bScnXE

This was my first culture shock when I moved to the US.

First day.

I turn on the TV and I see ads asking people to adopt dogs.

I was so confused, and my immediate first thought was, aren’t there homeless people here?

Very different problem.

Took me a while to grasp that.
