Fun fact. The biggest electric car manufacturer in the world is called BYD and is... Chinese! Their cars cost about half the price of a Tesla for 150% of the quality.

Western trade blocks, if they even exist anymore, are shitting their pants about them so much that our overlords don't let us purchase these cars at their real price. If you believe that tarrifs are going to fix this, I'm very very sorry.

Go travel and see for yourself. And if you don't shit your pants you might wanna see a brain doctor. We're rekt and there's not much to do about it.

BYD grew extremely fast over the last 3 years in europe

It is quiet old news but still impressive how china attack EU market:

https://www.euronews.com/business/2024/05/15/european-ports-turned-into-car-parks-as-ev-makers-hunt-buyers

I didn't know about the numbers, only what I personally saw on the street

SLAVERY FIXES THIS

Propaganda much

Tiffin has entered the chat.

Friend owns one. Can confirm it really feels different to drive. They legit have the best suspension of a car ive been in. I still prefer to rekt my back with a gassy manual transmission and shitty suspension for nostalgia reasons. But this is probably best modern(whatever that means) car on the market for the price point.

Yes they are incredible! If tesla is left to compete with one of those EV companies in a true free market they would stand no chance

but side note/ heads up in case someone want to invest in them , DJT threatened yesterday to delist all chinese EV stock from exchanges as a form of retaliation , don’t get caught up in that mess

I think it’s not only economical but also psychological . Branding still plays a powerful role. Chinese people still buy European luxury goods and iPhones.

Absolutely. However the branding advantage can vanish very quickly. What doesn't change that quickly are economic realities.

There's only one US phone company, Apple, (that produces in China), and only one pure electric car manufacturer, Tesla. Both are wildly popular in China. In case of a trade war (or a real war), China can easily replace those products with their own alternatives for their domestic market. No western country could do the same.

We drugged them with opium.

Now they drug us with dependency.

what hurts even more is that they don't even think about us

I would distinguish the obscene Trump tariffs from the EU. The latter is intended to compensate for Chinese state subsidies. The bigger question is why China wants to exploit its own workers to make cars artificially cheap for foreigners.

Maybe in order to kill the EU car industry for the long run and then jack up prices later. Though that seems like a risky bet. Maybe the EU should just let them.

The quality remains to be seen. I wouldn't trust safety stats from China, nor from the current US government. These new cars will need to drive for a while in the EU to know. I suspect there will be some really safe and durable brands as well as absolute shit that Volkswagened its way through the approval process.

"Volkswagened it's way" 🤣💀

My main concern with Chinese EVs is the get rekt kill swich that I'm pretty sure they have somewhere. If Western countries end up in a war agaisnt China, military of otherwhise, I don't want my car to be briked with some over-the-air software upgrade.

A few years ago I thought a possible conflict will be a pain in the ass to deal with if you had the need for repairs, but after seeing John Deere briking tractors in Russia I decided I don't want to deal with that kind of risk.

John Deere bricked tractors in Russia

👀👀👀👀

prob all electrekt can all be remote briked or worse

and the previous u.s. admin wanted it in all cars fuck that shit

Tslas only competitor is China.

Tsla is also huge in China.

China is copy cat.

Do you have source that trump isn't letting them build factory in USA. For tsla to sell in China they had to build factory and manufacture in country.

the name: Build Your Dreams

Aren’t big batteries under your ass bad for your health???

Ehm, no.

No shit they steal all of our IP

Come on Calle your smarter than this good brother

Tesla could charge half what they charge if they used damn near slave labor like the Chinese.

How can we be pro human rights freedom open source then co-sign and promote slave labor ccp products

I didn't make any value judgements

That’s why the West freaked out and slapped on some dumb tariffs, thinking they could stop ’em—but they’re dead wrong.

It's worth noting they sell these at a loss.
