Day 26/31. Morning beach walk 4.2km. Slowmoflow 60 mins. Afternoon run 6.5km.
Total time of intentional exercising 2 hr 26 min. This is pretty much my daily week day goal. It’s fairly rare to hit this on the 5 week days but sometimes I do. I drop the running on weekends to have a rest and do some recovery.
Today’s run was interesting as I pushed myself to hit a sub 6 min per km average. A while ago I dropped any sort of gamification of my exercise when my Apple Watch died, and in particularly with running, as I wanted to try the slow running method. I wanted to remove time and replace with zone 2 cardio sessions. I then had significant surgery in April which meant a very slow and measured approach getting back into running. On a recent trip abroad I started carrying my phone mainly to record distance as I was easing back into running. I have noticed that I really can’t help but look at the real time feedback while running pace wise. I have been doing a great job ignoring it, up until today. I noticed an opportunity to achieve a time based goal and before I knew it I was racing the clock. While there is nothing special about a sub 6 min per km average, I saw it as a way to quantify my recovery. I am happy to have caved today, but it’s back to slow running tomorrow 😁 #31days
