It's a combination of certain influential circumstances:
1. Global media outlets have done an outstanding job at convincing the masses that technology such as facial recognition tech exists to protect them.
2. They've been convinced that government and corporate obedience will lead to their happiness in the long-term.
3. Society, as a whole, is just too lazy to take action against these ruling powers.
4) Scotland is part of Authoritarian Britain and the Subjects are behaving like good little Subjects.

Yes, but the worrisome bit is that they don't seem to care. The masses seem to fail to understand the long-term consequences of adhering to such an extreme level of indifference. Our children will undoubtedly suffer for it.
