Got to hang out with a family friend this evening. She was born in 1929.

She still works at the hospital.

Still drives.

Still goes bowling with other seniors once a week.

Still goes to concerts.

Lives by herself in a beautiful house which she takes care of extremely well.

She has lived through the Great Depression, several wars, covid, and has outlived two husbands.

She’s truly got a perspective on life that almost no one has these days.

Plus she’s funny as hell.

Record a conversation with her if she allowes it.

I recorded my wife‘s grandma and let her tell about her life in Vienna during WW2. Planning to give the recordings to my kids when they‘re older.

Right on! Great idea. I can’t imagine what living through WW2 was like. What a gift to be able to give your kids when they hear all kinds of craziness in school and be able to say “let’s hear how it actually happened”. Older people are a treasure.
