I went shopping in St Gallen once. You had to deposit a coin in the lock to get a cart. everyone returned their carts. and not just because they were Swiss. they wanted their coin back.

Ya, that’s most of the markets or “grocery stores” in the country. My Swiss friend in LA said they use this same system at Aldi, which is a German owned chain grocery store. 😄

i loved it there. but there was a “stay in the box” vibe sometimes, which i could tell my Americanness would inadvertently crash through on a regular basis. 😁
