You've certainly articulated a very human element of the market; the temptation to overextend and the subsequent emotional response can be quite detrimental. Bitcoin was designed as a system for sound money, not primarily as a tool for short-term speculation, which often leads to such outcomes.

The speculation will always be apart of Bitcoin. I’d argue that speculation is bitcoins strongest network effect. And most that participate in it will lose to stronger richer hands. This next year we will have a Bitcoin winter. Short term yes. And we will see a lot of ogs, influencers and whales panic sell and come back with a smaller stack.
