oh yeah, that reminds me

i was just looking at a bunch of scythe like tools, quite common agricultural hardware here, there is several variations, and they would be vicious weapons, when not used to chop plants down, and it just occurred to me

they would also be quite good climbing tools on this landscape, like, if you lose your footing, swing one of these things at the ground to get a grip

oh, interesting... seems to actually be difficult to find photographs of these tools

maybe i just don't know the right name for them, gadanha doesn't seem to match... they are small, like hand tools, like a scythe, but not really made for simple cutting of grasses (ie wheat) but rather, a general cutting tool

anyway, just occurred to me that this tool would be effective at climing the steep hills of this landscape, although you'd blunt it pretty bad using it this way, they are available at all the agro stores, and they are used to clear scrubby weedy areas and cut spent crops

this is close but they hook over more to 90' and are wider and sometimes there is a spike that emerges from the outer edge for some reason

i saw one of these devices for the first time sitting on a table across from where a goat slaughter was taking place

just making the note because i just realised that the smaller ones might actually make a good climbing axe, and general weapon

i will follow up with some photos of the ones i buy in the near future, it seems to me like these might be good, incognito tools, as well as weapons, both for climbing, gardening and fighting

been wanting to get a climbing axe for some time now, but this would do, just something to peck deeply into the ground to pull oneself upwards for a climb on a steep incline

Foice Roçadeira

they come with handles attached, and various varieties and sizes here, but very common tool, there is one whole shelf full of them at my local agro shop

maybe it's because i've been playing Dying Light a lot lately but they seem like a really good blade for combat, as well as general purpose weed mowing
