after my reading so far of The Book of Jubilees and The Book of Enoch i have come to the conclusion that there has been great misunderstanding of two key concepts in the actual history

- burnt offerings are literally cooking a barbecue for guests

- the guests, the Lord and the angels - yes, they were humans (different variety, pale skin, thus "elohim" or "bright ones") - physically visited the notable figures at least in the early times between Adam and Noah, and after the flood until at least after Daniel, but they stopped visiting so much sometime around 2500 years ago (possibly they left the planet) as there is nearly no evidence of the frequency of contact described in the old texts (and this includes other cultures, hindu, africans, north americans, aboriginals even)

There was an uptick in angelic activity during the life of Jesus, according to the New Testament. And some other examples during the ministry of the Apostles.

indeed, gabriel is described repeatedly in the Qu'ran as being responsible for causing Mary to become pregnant

and also, yes, John the Prophet notably also had contact with angels, who admonish him not to prostrate himself to him because "we are the same as you"

it's really clear once you read Enoch that the entire canon of most mainstream christianity mistakenly believes that angels are purely disincarnate even though there is so many clues even without the clear and explicit "fallen angels impregnating women" part and the "angels are created beings" part

they are capable of telepathy, they have faster than light travel, they can induce visions, and clearly they can induce pregnancy, and that reminds me, in some obscure sect i remember in some book about sex magick the implication that jesus was the product of artificial insemination

remarkably similar to many of the tropes of the modern UFO contact stories too

I had never heard that about Gabriel and Mary in the Qu'ran. That's interesting because wasn't Gabriel attributed to be the angel that revealed the Qu'ran to Muhammad?

Also, when you read the story of Samson's miraculous birth, his mother was first visited by an angel, who told her she would get pregnant with a special son, and then her husband was insistent on meeting this "guy" she had spoken to...

yeah, it really quite blows your mind once you start pulling at this thread

I do want to read the book of Enoch. What are your thoughts about it as compared to the books of the Bible?

it does not contradict anything material, only it really illuminates some points that theology has got wrong by depending on the catholic church chosen canon

I appreciate that viewpoint. I’ll look forward to starting the book of Enoch soon. I haven’t intensively studied why some books are in the apocrypha and not in other Bibles. I guess that’ll be next on my list of things to research.

well, enoch is in the Ethiopian Orthodox canon that's how it first got rediscovered in recent history

i should point out that multiple places in the catholic bible canon also mention the idea of things being hidden, and the word "apocrypha" literally means hidden or esoteric
