To get people to leave Telegram or WhatsApp I think Signal is best. Has Stories, Stickers, etc. Features people who don't care my about the tech expect to have. Largest userbase of the three I assume so biggest network effect.

SimpleX seems nice too but the link exchange to add contacts could be a entry barrier. Less features than Signal at the moment.

Haven't tried Keet yet. One doesn't hear much about it though so I suppose the userbase is the smallest. Tough sell 😄

Molly

I use keet but not for texting. I use it primarily as a replacement for Dropbox/Google Drive for moving large files between devices.

Video chat is also very good with Keet though.

Signal is daily driver for texts, haven't tried out SimpleX yet, but that's on the todo list.

Simplex only has a linux terminal client. No gui.

Yeah, I know, sounds awesome haha.

simplex-desktop gui is available

Oh neat. That must be a third-party project ?

no. same folks. takes a little digging, but it's on the github, somewhere

Ah. Their main website just said linux terminal while gui for every other OS

yeah it's kinda hidden for some reason, but works great

For what purpose? Keet seems very good for video calls. Signal has best network effect, simplest UI for to onboard regular people. SimpleX best privacy of the three.

depends on goals, imo

signal (molly) best for daily driver and normie use

simplex for hardcore/mission critical/highly sensitive

others are mentioning molly, which is a compatible fork of signal which works with your signal login/user

i have no experience with keet

Not keet. It is closed source. For all I know someone on the team sees everything you write.
