I don't think it's that, I think people just genuinely don't understand what open source software is and why it matters.
Also stems from a need for everything to be controlled.
Many on nostr support the claim that Open Source is communism. And call you a commie if you try to argue in favor of FOSS.
That's because Bitcoiners often think that open source means you have to "work for frew" when in reality it's about "working for freedom". There are plenty of examples of for-profit Bitcoin companies who embracw Bitcoin's long-held tradition of open source.
License restrictions are crony capitalism. Product moats have always came from reputation, not government.
