It depends on the type of the app. Nostr shall not compete first as a social media.

As an other stuff-app, it benefits already from lower userbase, and other kinds if can be reused.

But definitely, we need more data generally, and more apps to leverage eachother.

I guess building on eachothers work can be the biggest measurable benefit from adoption perspective.
