i heard an interesting idea this week from a Hodler who was worried that in 50 years, when each Hodler is a bank and there is little blockspace for opening/closing lightning channels and not all 9 billion people on the planet will have access to the non-custodial version of Bitcoin.

I haven't gamed it out more than: ~1,000,000 transactions per day

9 billion people.

I don't know how many transactions per lightning channel.

The idea is that eventually there will be a big base of population who will want to self custody their Satoshis, but they will not be able to due to the fees and small UTXO sizes even on Lightning.

So it will be the Satoshi-poor masses advocating bigger blocks versus the rich OG bitcoin hodlers who will want smaller blocks to keep all the little guys on their custodial platforms.

lol, even satoshi said that there almost certainly at some point will be block size increase and probably he mentioned increasing denomination precision

we are far from that when the fee rates are as low as 6 sats/vbyte tho

so you don't envision a war between evil Hodler OGs wanting to keep their hold on precious Blockspace so they can charge fees on custodial platforms and earn yield and the many others.

if 51%of people total say "we're increasing the blocksize" then it happens, right, regardless of what people who hold the most bitcoin say ?
