Very few of these npubs are resolving to identities for me in Amethyst... I'm only on paid relays, could that be part of the problem?

Yeh you need to be on the same relays to send and received messages from other users.
I thought it had to do with whether you follow them, but then i saw that if i click their profile and come back i could see their name either way
I am on damus but still i think that means it can’t be a relay issue
add a few free relay as well. they all showing fine. and this is the latest version 👇🏻
Definitely. You’re connected to only a few relays. Anyone not using these will be basically invisible to you. You should add more relays
I thought relays would go fetch content from the relays where that user's content exists, no?
Just connect to these big ones and should be okay.

Nope, relays don’t talk to each other (although a few of them broadcast to others)
Just checked on Amethyst (20-ish relays, mostly free) and all good here.
Anyway, Iris (maintained by @npub1g53mukxnjkcmr94fhryzkqutdz2ukq4ks0gvy5af25rgmwsl4ngq43drvk) is running on Android too. I'm using both apps on the same relays and so far, Iris is a tad more user friendly.

Try the nostr.wine filter it pulls from the public ones but filters spam.
Amethyst seems to need a few tries to find the account. You need to switch back and forth from the home screen to the search.
I found that with Damus too. I had to click on a contact and then wait a few seconds, and if it didn’t load then go back and try again.
this happens on Snort too. i think this is a result of relays getting hammered and not responding in a timely manner.

Same on Iris and likely relays. Could this be from the limitation of up to 3rd degree separation? Also under nip65, if event is not pushed out to the list, you write to the few you select and read from what you are tagged (out of your follower list), but not sure how the relays r/w is defined . But can definitely feel the diff in limitation of accessibility
