One created something the other spent $44 billion to destroy, puffing his chest as he runs it into the ground.
I agree that Twitter is a bit of a mess, but is Elon destroying it? It was pretty borked when he bought it, so it can’t hurt to tinker.
Maybe destroying it is secretly a gift from him to humanity.
Whatever it was when he got it, I would say it’s gotten incredibly worse and not better. The user experience has gotten worse, the algorithm has gotten worse, the ROI on advertising spend has gotten worse, the PR has gotten worse… And I’ve yet to see him actually innovate or create anything new. He’s charging people for features that already existed, that he has, since made worse.
He’s also exposing some major corruption between the state and big tech. That has incredible value to society right now. I imagine the innovative stuff is in the works. And in the meantime, trying to find revenue to keep things afloat. I sound like a big Elon shill, I’m not. But it takes time to purge shit out of an infected system and heal it. I believe that’s the end goal.
Nothing he exposed has been entirely shocking, and at the end of the day for all of the spin, I’m sure it won’t make a bit of a difference. And for his freedom of speech platforming, people are still getting their account deleted, shadow banned and put on suspension for saying generally innocuous things. He’s completely full of shit and way out of his breadth.
Maybe not shocking to us who have known this stuff all along. But now it’s in the public domain and people have gone on record. That means something, especially for the future. The rest of what you’re saying, yeah this whole thing could collapse and Twitter could be left a pile of rubble. I hope not, I hope it’s just getting worse before it gets better.
Just coming back to say that with every day that passes, I understand more your frustration with Twitter and Elon.
