Anyone have a good recommendation for a home generator. Need would be for power outages to run a couple freezers, a fridge, and keep the lights and HVAC running for 1600 sf. Planning on moving in the not too distant future, so something that handles more than just my current situation would be appreciated. #asknostr

What fuel do you prefer (gas, diesel, propane, nat gas?, how much can you store?, what is your worse case scenario for how long the generator has to run all of this?) Runnning the HVAC in addition to everything else adds some serious load!
I have had great success with WinCo especially with Honda engine. However I opted for propane as my fuel as I could install a large underground tank. (I do not run the HVAC, just lights, freezers, refrigerator, lights and all personal electronics.) I also have significant solar and battery storage.
Lots of planning and tradeoffs to consider to size things correctly.
