But it's not at a protocol level. Unless you are saying that this sort of implementation would set a sort of standard of best practice for other clients? I can't see all nostr client devs agreeing on that 🤔

doing things centrally is just the path of least resistance for a lot of things if you are aiming at scale. If we dont say anything when they choose the easy centralizing and censoring path then the behaviour will spread unchecked and morph into "standards" and protocol
