They already have to a degree with ETF, KYC and other regulations but bitcoin continues to work as originally intended p2p and permissionless. So it is a bit of a paradox. This domestication is also location dependent. My view is you can only regulate your citizens you cannot regulate bitcoin as a protocol. The only rules that matter in the protocol are written in code.
