#asknostr I still don’t get why nostr is full of spam. It’s the perfect setup to spam. Anyone know why it’s so clean and good?

Hawaiians are naturally attracted to decentralized protocols (who knew?). They show up, devour the spam, and leave very little trace. If you observe carefully you will also notice the population of Hawaiians here ebb and flow over time as nature reaches an equilibrium.

The power of the community. Spam alerts are used by relays to block access to offenders. Another important point is that in most clients, only the notes of those you follow are displayed in the feed. If you look at the global feed, you will see a little bit of span.
You're overthinking it. Really not that complicated. Once you start looking for Hawaiians you will realize they are everywhere.
Spammers don't really realize this place exists much yet, we only have a handful of spammers. Nostr can use proof-of-work, filtering based on zaps/relays/etc as well in the future. There's plenty of room and options for spam prevention which will get the vast majority of it.
