Yeah this has been a problem with primal since day one. Not expecting it to be fixed anytime soon. I switch back and forth between primal and damus now. Primal for feeds and damus for notifications.
I mainly used it for Advanced Search now.

The feeds are just gorgeous compared to damus. And it saves your place when you reopen it.
Yakihonne feed is gorgeous too , but waiting for them to separate Notes and replies
