I’ve tried restarting my node several times and it keeps getting stuck at this “starting” screen. Any ideas?
Discussion
I've had something similar happen to a friend's node after a period of time... I highly recommend you go to the Telegram Umbrel group and hopefully find a fix because from memory this thing shat me up the wall.
Need to delete the peer.dat and restart
What does "tail -n 1000 /mnt/data/umbrel/app-data/bitcoin/data/bitcoin/debug.log" say?
Hopefully the path is correct..
I had this issue in the past. Check the logs (either using the Troubleshoot function in Umbrel or via the CLI) to see if it gives more information on what is causing it. In my case it was a corrupt peers.dat file stopping bitcoin from starting and all I needed to do was remove the file so that it is rebuilt and can start up correctly again.
Had the same problem and this simple fix resolved the issue:

Thanks I’ll try that after work..
I learn as I go and I have the understanding of SSHing into a system of a baboon.
Do I just copy and paste this into my command line?
rm ~/umbrel/app-data/bitcoin/data/bitcoin/settings.json
Try ‘ssh umbrel@umbrel.local’ when you are on your local network.
.cc nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct
Then run the ‘rm’ command once you’ve logged in.
I think I deleted the file.. rebooting now fingers crossed
If this doesn’t work I think I’ll just reflash the ssd
I don’t think you’ll need to. You should turn on logging on the Umbrel to get the error details if this doesn’t work.
