No devices that can use it though. Most routers barely even have 10gb port. And almost none have 10gb lan. The ones that do are really expensive. Most lan ports are 1gb right now. Mac Studio is 10. I wonder if 40 is coming soon 🤔 nostr:note1sa5lgwt6em4g927g2ty0sxf5q22ddsr3h9k5805ysfhvgk30uxgqcjnxq6

I bought one for absolutely no reason, given that even one of my old CAT 5e cables was able to run 10Gbps at short distances. Cat 8 is a chunky boy, about as easy to bend as its stubborn owner refusing to admit he didn’t need it.

I just ordered 10 🤣 let’s see how it goes

25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T, along with Cat7/Cat8 were dead on arrival

10GBASE-T already has stringent requirements, network cards that get very hot and more.

But if you insist, we have 800Gbps already, but it’s only for backbone connections

10Gbps SFP+ used is dirt cheap

25Gbps with SFP28 is a somewhat the standard for DC deployments as an in-between for 10 and 100 Gbps.

40Gbps serves no use except being cheap homelab crap

100Gbps is still pretty good and the max you’ll see on a server (example, SANs) but also costs a lot more

more and either you are looking at either backbone links or AI
