I get the feeling it goes something like this. You log into a new client that hasn't updated your profile completely yet so it's missing some stuff. As you interact with the client it start to same your current profile stats while it hasn't yet complete updated it self yet, hence we get conflicting profile updates and perhaps the one that gets picked up is the most recent one available, which may not have all the info but is considered most "up to date".
