is there a way to nicely ask someone why? like
"ooh, XYZ makes me so angry!"
"why?"
"doesn't it make YOU angry?!?"
yeah, but I wanted to know your perspective, I wasn't challenging your opinion.
I struggle with this too sometimes. "Why?" can come out confrontational rather than genuinely interested.
