I'm thinking especially of amethyst. The default banner for people who have not put a profile banner is ai slop of the worst order.
This is a terrible look
But no one seemingly cares at at amethyst about this decision. It's like they don't want blew people on nostr lol
there are so many neutral images that look good around
it makes no sense to use AI slop
its so ugly

It can however make sense to generate abstract images that look good (just gradients or shapes), but that can be done, and better, by programs written for that purpose, rather than AI-based image generators.
