Dude, one of the first things I did when I bought my house was bought the biggest standby generator I could find. I can tolerate a lot of things but no power isn’t one of them…it kicks on whenever power goes out, and can has more than enough capacity to run things like washer, dryers, etc. it’s worth every penny.
