This is an excellent example of the problem.

There's no logic here, only dogma and knee jerk reactions.

I study all traditions and see how they overlap. I see the common ground.

Dogmatists have never actually figured out how to love their neighbors as themselves. You can't be a dogmatist and act dismissively towards all aspects of all other traditions. They're contradictory thoughts.

All it took was for him to see Islam and he lost his mind and his reading comprehension.

I wasn't advocating Islam. I was pointing out the meaning of the word Islam.

That's ok though. Everyone gets as many lifetimes as they need to figure out how not to be a dick to everyone.

Isn’t Christ one of the 4 important Prophets in Islam?

I have no idea how many important prophets Islam has but I do know that Christ is considered a major prophet in Islam, yes. Also, I believe Christ's mother Mary is afforded a great deal of reverence in Islam as well.

The same is true in India, Nepal, and Tibet. They have records of Christ having travelled through those areas during the years that are not accounted for in the canonical (fiat) gospels.

You were clearly drawing a parallel between what Christians mean by "faith in him" and _submission to the will of God_ or surrender--and they're opposites. The latter is a religion of obedience and works. Ours is a religion of grace despite demerit. I am not meaning to insult you personally here, only offer a correction about what we believe.

It's nuanced. I'm not defending the modern rigorous dogma and all that.

I'm looking at the word Islam. That's it dude.

Have you ever played a game of "telephone" before? Some call it "Chinese whispers". The signal gets distorted in transmission my man to man through time.

I'm looking at the origin. That's when the word was coined.

I'm not looking at the modern collection of teachings. That wasn't my point at all. I literally was only focused on the word. In the beginning was the word dude. Why is that the word? There's a reason.

Yeah, every religious tradition has lost it's shit and gone off the rails some since the founding. That's what happens and if you think your religion is immune, that's pure ego talking.

Names, labels, and words are very important. They're telling.
