I agree that its not productivity that holds back a 4 day work week. It's political resistance.

As politicians are struggling with how to manage the coming transition, I think they will be faced with choices around:

1) Trying to slow or stop the development of AI to protect jobs.

or

2) Trying to make sure that everyone benefits (as much as possible).

A shorter work week is one possible outcome towards #2 (along with things like a better minimum wage).
