There is a fake account on nostr that is named exactly like me (@laura) but actually there is a space after the 'a' that you can't see. It is hard to recognize since there are no obvious differences like on the other socials (laur4, la_ura ...)

Stupid question, can you ban spaces after the name on nostr? It should be an invalid character or something else

Darn it! Got excited, thought we were gonna be pals. 😂

With respect it’s not a fake account right it’s just an old account of somebody trying to I don’t know 🤣🤣🤣

It’s a fake account with my profile picture trying to scam people

Maybe you’re the scammer? Who would know? Goes back to trust and verify & self accountability.

To be fair, I’m jaded as fuck since I’ve had my identity stolen via my pictures from Facebook (others pics of me) since the middle aughts. 🤣🤣🤣

We all are scammers.

Relayé au moins certains sauront . Bonne journée

Nostr is the Wild Wild West … you gotta put up with stuff

This is why we need nostr:npub12qpvkjr6dcp60qwjpdx3zklup6t2hauq9kd6fmjf6adqyvdq6mvqv2v8cz

Far more tactful than my Bottom Line Up Front

I love you nostr:npub12qpvkjr6dcp60qwjpdx3zklup6t2hauq9kd6fmjf6adqyvdq6mvqv2v8cz for being you 😍

Aww 😍 … love you too, hon

Yay. Thanks 😊 I’m grateful 🥹 & honored

Allow them, but trim account names so they can’t end in spaces. But now I want all spaces for mine

Account names are meaningless on Nostr. They aren't unique.

Your pubkey is your identifier.

Ser this is open protocol

No, but you can use NIP-05 to verify ownership of a domain in your control (e.g yourname.com) to signal that you’re the “real” one.

https://nostr.how/en/guides/get-verified

The “real” one to one is Gucci to others 😂😂😂

They can take your name but they can never take your npub!

EXCELLENT

also isn’t there something about online

Web of trust thing

It dm me askin’ economical questions.

it is a "second best" Laura 😅

We could ban spaces after the name, but it would do no good.

Usernames are not unique on Nostr.

Your public key is your unique identifier. Share that with people.

everyone on nostr can have the same username. it's your npub that is unique. use a client such as coracle that uses WoT. it's really obvious with those clients.

You can have identical usernames without the space. Because your username isn’t your actual identity on here but your cryptographic public key is your identity.
