Why do we value other people’s opinions more than our own?

Truth is, if you don’t anchor your values internally (or in something higher), you’ll drift with the opinions of whoever yells loudest.
In group cohesion, survival of the species, probably
True, we’re wired to belong. But that instinct might lead us straight off a cliff.
In a positive sense, others have an outside perspective in your behavior. Can see things you cannot. Can be a helpful tool to find the truth.
Acknowledging that utility is good.
but in the negative sense, other’s opinions don’t make truth.
Exactly, external perspective can be a mirror, but not a master.
