Doggie coin isn't a shitcoin. I also wasn't as into Monero when I read about coldcard a few years ago, but now the lack of a Monero-only wallet seems sus too. (Not quite as sus as lack of doggie coin because the privacy factor increases the priority level way less than the market cap difference decreases it imo)
Nostr users don't talk enough about Gaza, so the stuff they do talk about automatically becomes a bit sus, with exceptions like any Assange mention or Bitcoin itself
They don't talk about a lot of terrible things here tho. Nobody is harping about the dozens of wars the US has fought for financial monopolies, the Uyghurs, or Haiti either. People build each other up here and strive to spread positivity and knowledge. That knowledge including less of what a single individual would like to see more of does not somehow invalidate everything else they share, or anything for that matter.
I smell what you're stepping in-Trump not talking about ending the Federal Reserve is an issue for me. Doesn't make ending illegals in America living on social services next to Americans who are refused those same services less valid or important.
It makes the man seem less consciencous. The principles still hold water.
I don't know what to tell you about the wallets thing, I know nothing about any of those.
Another example is the ongoing pandemic. People here not only ignore it, they actively lie about it. And people that support Israel's genocide should be buried in hateful replies, not ignored
Pardon my ignorance but this conversation is literally the first time in actual years that I've heard anyone suggest there was still a pandemic. I really doubt people here are trying to intentionally mislead anyone. I'm guessing but it looks a lot like people with different viewpoints, resources, or experiences than you are getting a really bad rap from you.
From what I gather, Hamas and Israel both have been up to some bullshit that spans back decades. I'm not saying Israel isn't committing genocide but I'm not saying they weren't incentivized to do that either, over the course of a very long and fucked up history.
Which again just looks like a difference of information. There is an actual ocean of information about a million things I wish we were all more informed on that I don't have time to touch. I'm not a bad person for not knowing. Does that mean I shouldn't talk about it much? Absolutely but people are entitled to an opinion even if they're less than fully informed or have a different experience with the subject matter.
I'm not attacking you about this either, hear me clearly. I had a relative with some very jaded views today who tended to do this same thing. It sounds like you're both associating malice with differences in understanding. And that dude has a lot of pain in his voice. I don't want that for you, fren.
The concentration of people from certain groups dominating the whole space is the issue.

I can appreciate that. It's a small community. There smaller the space, the more likely the participants align ideologically. Meanwhile x is algorithmic so fear porn, fud, tragedy, all follow the same formulas of mainstream media-the worse it is the more people tune in, the more money the horse spits out.
Which is why I say, part of what you're perceiving might just be a second order effect of not having an algorithm.

I would disagree, I'm sure there is a way to modify a feed (knowing not shit about programming, I assume it's possible) to prioritize high zap content but my feed is purely chronological.
If you mean higher engagement acts as a feedback to spur more engagement, that sounds more like human interaction more than a mechanism of the software. Kinda like cities have more work, causing more people to move there, causing more to be built, causing more work.
It looks very organic to me, despite the fact that I could definitely be wrong. Nostr could be a KGB psyop for all I know.
I see some layers to it in my view:
- nostr's lightning bias pushing away users of other cryptocurrencies while the wider Bitcoin bias pushes away dollarbrains, concentrating a certain group of people here
- feeds that boost zapped content
- people who give follows, likes, replies, and reposts to high zap amount npubs, hoping for zaps
- villains who use zaps to promote their own unfair bias willingly
- paid relays and other spam suppression methods that unfairly benefit lightning users or those with more money in general
I mean. Bitcoin made cryptographic money possible first. It tracks to me that it would also make financially incentivized social media possible first. Seems more like a lack of say, xrp bros, who employ enough ambition to create such a space. But they could always copy the Bitcoin playbook and copy it's programs again 😆
The rest definitely happens or will. I don't pay for a thing tho and I get zero spam over here. I just block everything that doesn't seem legit. Haven't seen reply guy in ages for instance.
The people here should help promote those developments instead of competing against them.
According to fiatjaf, reply guy stopped on its own when whoever was doing it felt satisfied they had proven their point, it was never successfully stopped.
