At 0-10 ft it's fine, and a gun she is comfortable with and can shoot is better than not having one, which is the appropriate starting place.
She's not on duty, is not a cop or a soldier. Those are husband's jobs.

Agreed just speaking from the experience with that gun. She'll be alright with this with good ammo and good maintenance
Looking at CCI, which is owned by Speer (gold standard 9mm ammo).
Their copper tipper, FMJ offering looks top of line. No need for hallow point at this power; 40gr of high penetration is more reasonable considering the tradeoffs.
Hoping these are reliable. Will train 100% on these if they are and use the same ammo for self defense.

Their segmented hallow point is interesting, but not convinced it could penetrate through thick jackets or jeans when needed and don't have the time to do thorough testing.
The round tips look satisfactory for us.
"After shooting thousands of rounds of 22 caliber ammunition over the last few years, out of different pistols,My primary load is CCI mini mag 40 grain copper plated solid ball ammo.It has never failed me."
Might consider the Upper Cut, too.
