The central branch of Philosophy is Ethics—or Morality, which are practically synonymous. This is the branch that offers a code of values to guide human choices and actions. How should you live? What should be your goal in life? What is good, and what is evil?
And then, in turn, from these come two derivative branches:
One is Politics, which is the branch that studies the nature of Society and the proper role of government.
And the other is Aesthetics, about which we will say only a few words in this brief summary; this is the philosophy of Art. What constitutes a work of art? What makes a work of art good or bad? What criteria do you use to establish the standard?
