Dont you have to use bandwith though for bostr2 ?
Of course, but more reduced:
1. When using nostr regularly without bostr, You are connecting 5-10 relays (or more), Which consume more bandwidth than how it is on single relay. For example, Each 10 relays consume 10 MB of bandwidth. If multiplied by 10 (amount of connected relays), You are consuming 100 MB in total.
2. Bostr solves this by taking the entire bandwidth on server side while the client gets reduced bandwidth.
This is useful for users that's using monitored broadband (mobile) data.
Yeah but the person who sets up the bostr needs fast internet right? Like i looked and didnt seem simple to implicate like launching a desktop app or am i wrong ?
Yes. And it's expected that you set up bostr on VPS like DigitalOcean, OVH, Linode, and other as they got decent internet speed instead.
I know nostr and amethysts can use alot of data as i have used about 90 gigs of cellular data this month.
Yeah right? 90 gigs of cellular data in a month is very unusual.
Those one that's having unlimited bandwidth could say this is fine.
But what's not fine is that ISP will charge more on them, anytime.
Hence why I made this. Tried using it for a month, and it's going smooth.
You were right amethyst only used 15 gigs I just assumed all 90 were amethyst as that was the only app I was using differently. Turned out "uninstlled app" used the gigs. So my yoit security camera app was using a suspicious amount of my cellular data
