This is why TOR is so slow. The TOR protocol must randomize the time it decides to transmit the message, a delay, so that the user does not get de-anonymized.
If all you want to do is talk to other nerds on SimpleX or Matrix or whatever, then do that. But most people want to introduce their family and friends to a good, privacy-respecting alternative and that's often Signal.
